Seven Bays For Seven Days

  • 1. Trevone

    The first of the seven bays’ beaches and the closest to Glebe Cottage. It's been awarded a Blue Flag and is great for surfers and families. The neighbouring Newtrain Bay has amazing rock pools and a Tidal Pool for swimming. There is a 80ft deep Blow Hole on the cliff above the beach.

  • 2. Harlyn Bay

    The next closest beach from Glebe Cottage is Harlyn. Bay This is a large crescent shaped sandy beach, which is has a Northerly aspect and is sheltered by Trevose Head. It's popular with families and surfers, and it's a great beach to learn on. The walk between Harlyn and Trevone is an easy stroll along the cliff top.

  • 3. Mother Ivey's Bay

    Just around the coast from Harlyn Bay is the secluded Mother Ivey’s Bay, which takes its name from the legend of Mother Ivey who was a local white witch. Sheltered from the wind by the Merope Rocks, this quiet bay lies in a sheltered location. Much the remotest of the seven bays.

  • 4. Booby's Bay

    Just south of Trevose Head and its famous lighthouse is Booby’s Bay, the most fantastic place for rock pooling. At high tide, the beach pretty much disappears, but at low tide all sorts of rock pools full of sea creatures appear. Walking to the bay from the clifftop is a nature-lovers dream.

  • 5. Constantine Bay

    Moving south down the coast, Constantine is one of the best surfer beaches in Cornwall. Due to facing West, it is not always safe for swimmers, so check with the lifeguards. It's perfect for rock pooling, and BBQs on the beach. Connected to Booby's Bay at low tide.

  • 6. Treyarnon Bay

    A short stroll from Constantine Bay is Treyarnon Bay, a clean and sandy north west facing beach backed by sand dunes and surrounded by low cliffs, it’s hugely popular with families. The northern side has lots of rock pools teeming with shrimps, crabs and small fish. There is also a large natural swimming pool for everyone to enjoy.

  • 7. Porthcothan Bay

    The furthest South from Glebe Cottage, and by itself, this is a very popular family friendly beach. Long and narrow, it is bordered by dramatic cliffs on both sides. The sheltered sea lends itself perfectly for swimming, surfing and bodyboarding. Porthcothan Bay was the location of Nampara Cove in the BBC series ‘Poldark’!

  • Polzeath

    On the other side of the Camel River to Glebe Cottage, and at the mouth of the Estuary is one of the best Surfing beaches in Cornwall. Sightings of Dolphin are common here!

  • Daymer Bay

    This beach is within the mouth of the Camel Estuary and is safe for swimming. At south the end of the beach is Brea Hill which has excellent views from the top. Nearby is St Enodoc Church which is the burial place of Sir John Betjeman. To avoid the queue for the car park, take the passenger ferry across the Camel from Padstow.

  • Hawkers Cove

    Close to Glebe Cottage and one of our favourites. It's also at the mouth of the River Camel, and despite being beautiful, it never really gets crowded. That's probably because car parking and access isn't easy. But it's worth it!

  • Mawgan Porth

    Stunning beach - we absolutely love it! It's a great family beach with lots of rockpools, caves and even a large stream running down the southern side of the beach. In terms of facilities there is everything you would expect from one of the region’s best beaches.

  • Watergate Bay

    This vast sandy beach is perfect for all kinds of activities - surfing, kite surfing, and kite buggying. Being west facing it picks up any Atlantic swell going. It also hosts the famous Boardmasters Festival on the cliffs above the beach.

  • Towan, Newquay

    This is Newquay's most sheltered beach and nestles up against the town's harbour. It's an ideal family beach with the waves here being generally small. You will also see the iconic "house on an island".
